Dinghy Racing

Yukon Breeze Sailing Society hosts racing nights. Informal instruction will be provided. Some key concepts that we will go over include:

  • Tacking and Jibing; how to roll tack to maintain speed, when to tack or jibe.

  • Understanding wind shifts.

  • Mark roundings; how to make a clean fast mark rounding. How to use your weight to steer the boat.

  • Start line; how to get your best start. putting it all together.

Racers will be in two person Flying Juniors (FJ's) as well as one person Lasers.

No previous racing experience is required. However you do need some previous sailing experience for these sessions.

 
 
 

  • Dates will be posted in April 2024.

  • Drop in cost: $20 per night

    Pre-registration: Drop-in punch passes and seasons passes are also good for race nights.

Regattas

Yukon Breeze Sailing Society is exited to host regattas in August and September. These will be a fun regattas & no racing experience is needed. Marks will be located around Schwatcha Lake, giving opportunities to sail around the lake at different points of sail.

Racers will be in two person Flying Juniors (FJ's), one person Lasers or Optis.

Everyone is welcome to come out from 12-1pm to learn about the plans we have for our site on Schwatka lake and for our BBQ ($10 if you would like lunch).

 
 

  • Dates: September 11th 2022

    Time: Skippers meeting at 9:30am (show up beforehand to set up your boat - Lasers, Optis and FJs are available)

  • Drop in cost: $30

    Pre-registration: $20 (online only)

    The cost includes the use of club boats.
